Predictable or Not? Energy Industry Trends and the Need for Competitive Intelligence

At the beginning of 2020, it was believed energy sector would be defined by a number of trends that include the rise of renewable energy as well as the resilience of fossil fuels. If anything were to affect such predictions, it would likely be sociopolitical in nature – conflict in the Middle East, for example, or the results of the Democratic primaries in the U.S.

A pandemic was not on anyone’s radar.

Samuli Tarkiainen and Miika Pinomaa of Finnish law firm Castren & Snellman believe, however, that COVID-19 is ultimately an anomaly, and that “[energy] projects continue to interest many financiers, investors and buyers despite the current crisis”.

Whether things remain predictable or the industry takes an unexpected turn, it helps to have competitive intelligence experts on one’s team.

Here are a few noteworthy CI executives at some of the energy industry’s biggest players.
